Sri Lanka is privileged to host this annual event which has become a permanent feature of the Technical Consultancy Development Programme for Asia and the Pacific (TCDPAP). Together with TCDPAP, the ACESL (Association of Consulting Engineers Sri Lanka) in association with FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) are honoured and privileged to invite all member countries to join with Sri Lanka in making the TCDPAP Conference 2012 a successful gathering of key stakeholders in Engineering Consultancy.
With the theme: Technology & Knowledge Transfer and Collaboration among Consultants in the Asia Pacific Region, this Conference aims to establish an action-oriented network and knowledge sharing framework, drawing on the participation from an international and national array of senior government officials, industrialist, and academics from diverse professional disciplines.
We believe that this meeting of key stake- holders over the 2-day conference will come up with creative, innovative and pragmatic approaches towards Knowledge Sharing and Technology Transfer, while strengthening the collaborative effort between regional consulting organizations..
We anticipate that there will be many experts from member countries of TCDPAP, who will present at the conference, technical papers, case studies and success stories, providing hands-on examples of new approaches, solutions and mechanisms to achieve the right framework for technology and knowledge transfer & collaboration.
Technology & knowledge transfer and collaboration are advocated by both the governments and the private sector in tandem with their pursuit of economic development. The setting up of a Knowledge Transfer Network, a single over-arching regional network in specific fields of technology, which brings together people from industry, universities, research, finance and technology organisations to stimulate innovation through knowledge transfer, will be a key focus of the Conference.
In Asia and the Pacific region a growing interest in technology, knowledge transfer & collaboration are evidenced by the establishment of the Technical Consultancy Development Programme for Asia and the Pacific [TCDPAP] in Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam and also within the other FIDIC/ ASPAC region countries of Australia, Azerbaijan, China – Hong Kong, China – Taipei, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and Uzbekistan.
In line with these initiatives, it is certainly time for a new world order for technology, knowledge transfer & collaboration development to become the norm rather than the exception. There should be in place a concerted and conscious effort for technology & knowledge transfer and collaboration to ensure the present generation meets their current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
